Witness in Pastor Biting Neighbor’s Wife Nose Case Jailed

first_imgA Drama unfolded at the Temple of Justice on Tuesday, July 15, when a lady who had gone to testify in favor of a Pastor accused of biting his neighbor’s wife’s nose was arrested and jailed at the Monrovia Central Prison.Tuesday’s arrest and detention of witness Vida Koko was ordered by Judge Blamo Dixon of Criminal Court ‘A,’ after prosecutors’ complained that she had been named as one of the co-defendants on the indictment to be tried alone with Pastor Edward K.Weah.Prosecutors further alleged that an indictee-turned-witness had been escaping from prosecution since the arrest and subsequent detention of Pastor Weah and his wife Mother Marthaline Weah. The Weahs are the founder and pastors of the Christ the King Ministries in the former Voice of America (VOA) community on the Roberts Field Highway.Pastor Weah with his wife Mother Marthaline Weah, had already denied the allegation when they testified earlier, before they named Koko as their witness. It all started after the Pastor’s  lawyers asked the court to qualify their fourth witness Madam Koko, which request  was granted and she was allowed to take the stand.Minutes after she rested with her testimony, the prosecuting team quickly raises the issue with the court, arguing that the witness was among several individuals that were part of the riot and had been escaping from justice. It was after further investigation of the prosecution’s complaint that the court established that indeed Koko was actually indicted along with the Weah.Though pastor Weah has since denied the charge of Aggravated Assault in open court, the fourth defense witness who took the stand, defended Weah (Pastor Weah) as being innocent.Koko in her testimony alleged that it was Lucia Oberly and her family that jumped on the defendant, threw him to the ground, punched him in the face and wound him seriously. She further testified that at no time did Pastor Weah bite the victim’s nose, as it had been alleged by the state.Pastor Weah was accused and charged with “Aggravated Assault by the government,  alleging that he bit the nose of Madam Lucia Oberly during a fight in the victim’s backyard. Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
