Guyana, Indonesia to explore trade, investment opportunities

first_imgThe Republic of Indonesia is interested in investing in Guyana, particularly in the areas of value-added manufacturing, agro-processing, and the sugar industry.Foreign Minister of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi, accompanied by Indonesia’s Ambassador to Guyana, Dominicus Supratikto, paid a courtesy call on President David Granger at State House over the weekend, and made this disclosure when she met the President.The Guyanese Head of State highlighted the longstanding good relations between the two nations, while adding that the visit forms the basis for strengthening ties between the two countries, which share a common history of colonization.President Granger also took the opportunity to express condolences to the Government and people of Indonesia on the loss of lives that occurred during a terrorist attack in that country on May 13.Minister Marsudi declared that her country is seeking to improve relations with Guyana, and said she looks forward to Guyana’s participation in the Indonesia Trade Exposition slated for later this year.Guyana and Indonesia established diplomatic relations on August 27, 1999.
