The Coach of Andorra: B&H is a World National Team

first_imgThe selector of Andorra Koldo Alvarez de Eulate addressed the journalists prior to the training of the players, stating that ahead of today’s match they have rested since the past match and that they will most probably have four or five players in defense.“There are no injured players, everyone is ready”, Alvarez said.Until now, the selector of Andorra always gave an opportunity to the younger players.“They are in the selection and there is a possibility that they will play today. We have watched the recordings and we will work on the problems we have. There is a great physical difference between these two selections. Since B&H is playing for the third position, we will probably see the best selection of B&H today. B&H is a world national team, it is enough just to see how many players play in the strongest leagues, that speaks enough of the selection of B&H”.Alvarez reminded that Dzeko scored three goals in the first match against Andorra.“It will be a mistake to only concentrate on Dzeko, B&H has a strong national team, but the forces must be distributed equally. We will play defense, we will attempt to score a goal in the beginning, and maintain the result afterwards”, the selector said.(Source: novovrijeme.ba)last_img read more

C’down to honour 1982 Manning Cup champions

first_img “Although this year’s team has better facilities and support, including a nutrition programme, the 1982 team was much more talented and had players who were more loyal, committed, and proud to wear the Camperdown jersey. Those days, it was difficult to make the team. if you did, it was a cause to celebrate. Today, things are different. these players are not as loyal like back then,” said Bender, whose team has struggled this season. Bender said his team, which was beaten by the defending champions Jamaica College in the semi-finals last year, has been suffering from serious injuries and indiscipline but should have a better second round. “Since the season commenced, we are yet to start our strongest team. At one stage, some of the players got suspended, while others were injured. All this has been sorted out now, and the team is ready. We are looking forward to making it to the semi-finals and going one better,” said Bender. committed and proud Camperdown High School will honour the heroes of their star-studded 1982 Manning Cup team tomorrow night. The team, led by former Reggae Boyz the late Peter ‘Jair’ Cargill, took three titles that year. All the surviving members of the team are expected to be at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel, New Kingston, where they will be inducted into the school’s hall of fame by the Camperdown alumni. Four members of the all-conquering team – Claude Palmer, reserve goalkeeper; Carl Richards, forward; Barrington ‘Cobra’ Gaynor, defender; and mid-fielder Cargill – will be recognised posthumously, along with the then principal, James Fitz-Henry Brown, under whose leadership the east Kingston-based school won the Manning Cup, Walker Cup, and Olivier Shield titles that year. Christopher Bender, who was one of four mid-fielders used by coach Patrick ‘Jackie’ Walters in the 4-4-2 formation has described the success of the 1982 schoolboy season as the greatest achievement in his career as a player. Thirty-three years later, Bender is now head coach of his alma mater.last_img read more
