Indiana vs. Penn State Prediction, Preview, Spread, Channel

first_imgPenn State's players celebrate a touchdown.Penn State football/InstagramPenn State looks to keep its 10-win dreams alive with a tricky trip to Indiana.Saturday, Nov. 12, the Indiana Hoosiers host on the No. 12 Penn State Nittany Lions. The game, to be played at Memorial Stadium, is slated for a 12:00 p.m. ET start time. Read on for our Indiana vs. Penn State preview.According to ESPN’s matchup predictor, which is based on its Football Power Index, Penn State has a 79.7-percent chance to win the matchup between the two teams. The spread also favors the Nittany Lions. Spread: Penn State -7Game Time: 12:00 p.m. ETChannel: ABC/ESPN2Indiana vs. Penn State preview:Highlighted by its dramatic home win over Ohio State a few weeks ago, Penn State is one of the nation’s hottest teams. Since its 49-10 loss to Michigan, PSU has rolled to five straight wins, with two absolute blowouts after the Ohio State game against Purdue and Iowa. It may be a bit late for running back Saquon Barkley to challenge Lamar Jackson for the Heisman Trophy, but he has certainly made a huge impact in recent weeks. Barkely has 1,055 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns this season, and is averaging 167 yards per game over the last four weeks.Indiana has been tough this season, however, and have a high-powered passing attack led by quarterback Richard Lagow, who has 2,574 yards this season and is averaging 8.28 yards per attempt. He’s spread the ball around well, with six players catching double-digit passes and at least 140 receiving yards this season. Nine different Hoosiers have caught touchdown passes.Indiana vs. Penn State prediction:With Michigan State falling off of a cliff this season, Indiana likely represents the toughest game left on Penn State’s schedule. Obviously, the Nittany Lions aren’t so good that you just automatically pencil them in against the Spartans, but if Penn State can get by Indiana, it looks like a very good bet that James Franklin will reach the 10-win plateau, and could potentially crash the New Year’s Six party. Indiana is a tough team, and we think the Hoosiers keep it close, but ultimately Penn State pulls it out.Penn State 37, Indiana 31,According to ESPN’s matchup predictor, which is based on its Football Power Index, Penn State has a 79.7-percent chance to win the matchup between the two teams. ESPN Analyst Makes Bold Prediction For Ohio State After Urban Meyer Decision

first_imgA closeup of Urban Meyer during an Ohio State football game.NEW ORLEANS, LA – JANUARY 01: Head coach Urban Meyer of the Ohio State Buckeyes looks on prior to the All State Sugar Bowl against the Alabama Crimson Tide at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on January 1, 2015 in New Orleans, Louisiana. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)In case you somehow missed it, Ohio State handed down its punishment to Urban Meyer last night. Meyer will be suspended for the first three games of the season. While Meyer can’t coach on game day until Week 4, he can rejoin the team after the season opener against Oregon State on Sept. 1. He will miss games against Oregon State, Rutgers and TCU.Many feel Meyer got off easy, while others are satisfied with what Ohio State did. Strictly from a football perspective, his absence shouldn’t hurt his team too much.In fact, at least one ESPN analyst Trevor Matich thinks it might benefit the Buckeyes. Appearing on The Paul Finebaum Show today, Matich said he thinks Meyer’s suspension could have a unifying effect.“Ohio State will be even better and more dangerous as a football team on the field because all of this is going on,” Matich said.”Ohio State will be even better and more dangerous as a football team on the field because all of this is going on” – @TMatich pic.twitter.com/ofze9QONUc— Paul Finebaum (@finebaum) August 23, 2018Matich might have a point. Ohio State could conceivably rally around its leader after all of this and develop an “us against the world” mentality. The Buckeyes are already loaded talent-wise. They enter the season as a bona fide national championship contender.Meyer will be back for his team’s game against Tulane. He will still be able to coach against Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State this season, and barring an unforeseen slip-up, Ohio State should be 3-0 when he returns.last_img read more

Paul Finebaum Thinks College Football “Needs” LSU To Beat Alabama Tomorrow

first_imgPaul Finebaum makes comments about roy Williams. On Saturday night, one of the biggest college football games of the season is set to go down from Baton Rouge. The Alabama Crimson Tide heads to Death Valley to take on the LSU Tigers.Despite entering the contest as the No. 3 team in the country, LSU is a two-touchdown underdog on its own stadium. That’s the greatness of the Crimson Tide with Tua Tagovailoa under center. In an interview with For The Win, Paul Finebaum revealed why college football “needs” LSU to take down the Tide on Saturday night.“I’m not advocating this because I don’t have any more influence on the outcomes of the game than you do or anyone else, but the best thing Saturday night would be for Alabama to lose.It would be a wake-up call. All of a sudden, people would go ‘Whoa, hold on a second. This thing’s getting pretty interesting, this thing’s getting pretty exciting.’ Just because you think something might make the sport better doesn’t mean it will, but Alabama winning again this year will not be good for college football.”We’ve heard this debate with the NBA (Golden State Warriors), women’s college basketball (UConn), and the NFL (Patriots). Dynasties are always “bad” for their respective league according to sports pundits, but fans keep watching.Alabama and LSU kick off Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. ET on CBS.[FTW]last_img read more

(Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)Alabama has been the most-dominant team in college football for the first 11 games of the 2018 regular season. Will the Crimson Tide continue to be that in game No. 12? We’ll find out against Auburn this afternoon.Nick Saban and Co. are set to end their regular season against their rival, as the Crimson Tide are taking on the Tigers this afternoon.Alabama and Auburn are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. E.T. The game will be televised on CBS.Does Auburn have any chance of pulling off the upset against No. 1 Alabama?ESPN has made its prediction. The answer: Not really.ESPN’s Football Power Index is giving No. 1 Alabama a 91.3 percent chance of winning this game, giving Auburn just an 8.7 percent chance of pulling off the upset.Alabama will be looking to get some revenge for last season’s game, when the Tigers upset the Crimson Tide.“The players all know what happened last year,” Saban said this week. “I think they don’t feel great about it. They didn’t feel good about last year. They’ve had to live with it for 365 days.”“I don’t necessarily think that the revenge factor is the best form of motivation out there, but I think it certainly plays into a guy that’s a good competitor who wants to come back and do well if he didn’t perform well the last time, he played someone.”Alabama and Auburn are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. E.T.The game will be televised on CBS.last_img read more

Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly gave each other space at Delhi Capitals camp: Munro

first_imgRicky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly gave each other space at Delhi Capitals camp: MunroWhile everyone has been speaking about the youngsters in the team Delhi Capitals and their brilliant display, Colin Munro feels that credit must go to the whole team, including the head coach Ricky Ponting and advisor Sourav Ganguly.advertisement Indo-Asian News Service New DelhiMay 11, 2019UPDATED: May 11, 2019 17:36 IST Colin Munro feels the credit of Delhi Capitals’ success must go to the whole team, including the head coach Ricky Ponting and advisor Sourav Ganguly. (IANS Photo)He is considered one of the best T20 players in the New Zealand outfit, but Colin Munro played just four games for Delhi Capitals in this edition of the Indian Premier League. With scores of 40, 3, 14 and 27, Munro found the going tough. But being a foreign signing comes with added baggage. Even when you aren’t finding a spot in the XI, you must be available to interact with the youngsters and impart knowledge about the game.Speaking to IANS, the Kiwi said that keeping a positive frame of mind and always looking to help the youngsters in the team is a must when you are an overseas professional playing in the IPL.”You just got to try and pass out what knowledge you have from playing in the various T20 leagues around the world. Only 11 players can take the field, so you pass on the knowledge and make them a better cricketer. It is frustrating not playing, but you have a lot of work off the field as well. It is all about keeping a good attitude when you are not playing and help the boys out,” he smiled.”Yes, very frustrating, but at the end of the day, you can only play four foreigners and the conditions you are playing in, matter in team composition. You just have to be realistic and cannot be negative. You have to turn up to training with a positive attitude.”Asked what he did when he wasn’t playing for Delhi, the southpaw said: “Did a fair bit of gym work, cannot run as much as you like because you don’t want to overcook yourself because then if the opportunity comes for you to play, you go into the game being 70 percent because you are tired. Staying mentally fresh is also important when you are not playing.”advertisementWhile everyone has been speaking about the youngsters in the team and their brilliant display, Munro feels that credit must go to the whole team, including the head coach Ricky Ponting and advisor Sourav Ganguly.”The players knew their roles and they tried to go out and execute what they had been asked to do. Guys went out and achieved their goals and as a collective unit also we did well. We peaked at the right time. The way they (Ponting and Ganguly) have interacted with the youngsters, they gave each other space and let each other work in their respective areas of strengths. They have allowed each other to be who they are and have also worked well with each other,” he said. Also Read | T20 cricket needs players like Rishabh Pant: Colin MunroAlso Read | IPL 2019: MS Dhoni shares insights, Rishabh Pant listens with rapt attentionFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports.
